You Add to P.E.O. is a fun initiative within the P.E.O. Sisterhood where chapters are challenged to add two or more active members by February 28, 2025. Chapters that meet this initiative are eligible for special recognition, including being featured on the P.E.O. website.
Chapter AO, Ruston, Louisiana, was selected for November! As of November 1, the chapter had added 3 new members since the beginning of the initiative. Read below to learn more about the chapter.
What does your chapter do for fun?
This year, Chapter AO is embracing Louisiana State Chapter President Gloria Poole’s theme of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!” Some of our fun activities inspired by Gloria’s president’s challenges have included a book club social, Russ-town Band Patriot Concert, a paper airplane contest, an ice cream date, Ruston Community Theater’s production of Fiddler on the Roof, a Cutest Pet Contest, an 80s potluck and game night, lunch outings, a pajama party meeting and a favorite dish potluck. We are looking forward to more fun activities scheduled for the remainder of the year.
What has been your most successful fundraiser?
We recently participated in the Lincoln Parish Library Community Garage Sale. In addition to raising funds for projects, we connected with potential project candidates and potential sisters.
What is your best tip for finding new members?
We have had success finding new members through shared involvement in other volunteer organizations and at church. We are about to initiate a young woman who was our STAR Scholarship nominee last year. Project candidates and their family members also provide a pipeline for potential members.
