Eligibility

Women 18 years and older who acknowledge a belief in God are eligible for membership in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. P.E.O. does not discriminate against any woman based on race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, national origin, sexual orientation, age or abilities.

Become
a Member

The best way to learn more about P.E.O. and express an interest in membership is by talking to a current member.

  • A current member can introduce you to her P.E.O. sisters at a chapter social or informal gathering.
  • If the member you know does not live in your community, she can still introduce you! That member can submit an Introduction of a Woman Who is Not a P.E.O. form on your behalf. This form is automatically sent to chapter presidents within a 30-mile radius of your address.
  • If you do not know a current P.E.O. member, please fill out this form and our Membership Department will assist you.

Path to Membership

Local chapter members invite you to a social or informal gathering. This might be an event with the entire chapter or a get-together with a couple of members. You will meet with chapter members a few times to get to know each other.

If the chapter votes to extend an offer of membership, the corresponding secretary will mail you an Invitation to Membership.

The chapter’s president and a committee will meet with you and tell you more about P.E.O. They will talk about our history, our mission of educating women and other important details. This is a great time to ask questions.

You have six months to accept an Invitation to Membership. Your written acceptance must express an acknowledgement of your belief in God.

If you accept the invitation, the chapter will reach out to schedule your Ceremony of Initiation.

After the Ceremony of Initiation, you are a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood!
