You Add to P.E.O. is a fun initiative within the P.E.O. Sisterhood where chapters are challenged to add two or more active members by February 28, 2025. Chapters that meet this initiative are eligible for special recognition, including being featured on the P.E.O. website.
Chapter NN, Saint Charles, Illinois, was selected for April! As of April 1, the chapter had added 3 new members since the beginning of the initiative. Read below to learn more about the chapter.
What does your chapter do for fun?
Our chapter has many social events during the year that change annually. This past year we wandered around a farmer’s market together and then went out for brunch. Every summer, we meet for ice cream at a local favorite spot that makes homemade ice cream. We gather together for book discussions and movie nights. In the coming year, we are going to try a puzzle mania event where we share in food and fun putting puzzles together in teams. We also have many members that enjoy walking so we meet at various locations to walk at different times throughout the year.
What has been your most successful fundraiser?
Our most successful fundraiser is a dinner sponsored by one of our members who is a gourmet chef. Along with other members who assist her, she prepares a full-course meal for the chapter. Members offer a goodwill donation for the meal. After the meal, we have a farmer’s market fundraiser where members donate items that they cooked, baked or made. This fundraiser brings us together for a meal and fellowship and always raises a significant amount toward our fundraising goal.
What is your best tip for finding new members?
Our connections with members has been our best source for finding new members. Our current members talk about P.E.O. and invite friends to socials and fundraisers. When new people come to visit and see all that we are doing and how much fun we are having as a group, they are always interested in joining us.
