Eleanor Hildebrand Chornoboy, T, Winnipeg, Manitoba, has
written “Pajama Tears” a children’s book illustrated by her P.E.O. sister Katie Altendorf Cable, also of Chapter T. The book is about two sisters facing a dilemma when their favorite pink, footed pajamas no longer fit. Learn how mommy trouble shoots the problem of the ill-fitting pajamas.
Eleanor, author of “Snow Angels,” “Faspa: A Snack of Mennonite Stories” and “Faspa with Jast: A Snack of Mennonite Stories Told by Family and Guests,” enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and working with children and their families.
Katie, illustrator of “Snow Angels,” teaches children with visual impairments. She spends her time teaching in remote schools of northern Manitoba, creating art work, cooking and enjoying the outdoors with her bearded collie Zach.
Pat Gates, AL, Reno, Nevada, has written her second book “The Apple
Tree’s Secret” a children’s book about six-year-old Abby caring for an apple tree from the time it was planted until it is large and old. Abby learns valuable life lessons from Tree. Through milestones Abby and Tree grow together, deepening their friendship. Eventually they realize Tree’s life is diminishing. Tree has a sad end during a violent storm, but with his last breath Tree tells Abby he has left her a secret that provides a happy surprise at the end of the book.
Pat, a USC graduate with a California elementary credential, spent 30 years teaching first and second grades in Los Angeles Unified Schools, which inspired her to write for children. Pat also wrote “You Can’t Go Incognito in a Battleship,” a true American boating adventure.
Kiki Swanson has written “Remnants: Ready for New Life” a novel that grew
from real-life stories of seniors’ housing decisions and their needs for independence. In her book, Kiki’s main character, Daisy MacDuff, moves to a new retirement village in Scottsdale, Arizona, in a venture to add variety to her life. In her annual Christmas letter, Daisy invites nine friends from throughout her life to join her. Life stories involving attitudes about aging, decision-making, money, marriage and faith are woven through the conversations and relationships of the five friends who choose to accept Daisy’s invitation.
Kiki, grew up in the Midwest and holds degrees from Smith College and San Francisco Theological Seminary. She taught English and journalism. Kiki recently directed the senior adult ministry at Valley Presbyterian Church while living with her BIL in Scottsdale, close to three sons and their families.
Jeanne Wilde, DJ, Denver, Colorado, has written her second book “Tell
Me About…” a compilation of memoirs by various writers, including Jeanne. Stories from the 1800s to the present including Tehran before the fall of the Shah, the Korean War, World Wars I and II, Costa Rica, the Old West and a late 1800s journey from New Mexico to the Klondike with 900 sheep entertain and educate readers. Jeanne’s world-spanning collection relates a variety of experiences written with clear and distinct voices.
Jeanne earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Colorado University and taught school, including elementary literature on television. She is now on the concierge staff of the Colorado Convention Center and is involved with many organizations. In her spare time, Jeanne enjoys spending time with her BIL Don.
